Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional
Cergy-Pontoise Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) is an arts educational establishment with approximately 1 200 students and 87 teaching staff. It is a Cergy-Pontoise urban district amenity whose teaching is supervised by the French Ministry for Culture & Communication.
Missions
- Teach students to appreciate music, dance and theatre and educate them to a high standard of knowledge and practice. (3rd Cycle Amateur Proficiency, CPA).
- Train future professionals (CEPI Foundation course, Arts degree, DEM music, DEC choreography, DET theatre diplomas).
- Fulfil vocational training requirements.
- Promote artistic creation & arts performance (Cergy-Pontoise musical season).
Objectives
- Act as a fully fledged Departmental & regional resources centre in its own specialist area.
- Foster encounters between students and the public (performances) and the professional world (master classes).
- Reach out to new audiences.
- Offer an advanced arts-based degree course with Cergy-Pontoise university from 2011.
Musical season
As an extension of its teaching activities, CRR offers for a wide range of « artistic creation & arts performance » promotional activities to fulfil its mission. It organises an annual season featuring twenty events across the urban district community. Its artistic season provides an opportunity for Conservatoire pupils and students plus a wide audience to experience a host of concerts (chamber music, symphony orchestra, jazz, world music, dance, musicals).

School holidays
- From Mondays to Fridays, from 9am to 1pm & from 2pm to 6pm
There are no lessons during the school holidays but room loan to students continues to be available. However, CRR shuts down every year during the first fortnight in August and between Christmas and New Years Day.

History
1970
The Ecole de musique is founded by the Association pour le Développement de la Music et des Arts (ADMAC) to offer music lessons and stage concerts.
1982
Creation of the Ecole Nationale de Musique. ADMAC supports the promotional activities of the ENM which later becomes the «Musique à Cergy-Pontoise» association.
1983
Andrée-Claude BRAYER is appointed director of the ENM. She is supported by a dynamic team of sixty teachers. A concert season is proposed to the Cergy-Pontoise public and promotion of its arts activities takes on great importance.
1995
The success of its pupils, its concert programme, development of its courses contribute to the school’s renown. Alain Richard, then chairman of the Cergy-Pontoise SAN (Syndicat d’Agglomération Nouvelle), requests inspection of the school with a view to obtaining CNR status.
1997
Following two years of inspection by the French Ministry of Culture, in January 1997 the ENM is granted Conservatoire National de Région status.
2003
Numbers stabilise around 1250 students: 1 000 musicians, 200 dancers and 50 actors. The number of students in the 3rd cycle has increased very significantly. Teaching is structured into departments.
2006
In October, the CNR becomes a Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) and awards the new national diplomas …
2010
The CRR incorporates Cergy-Pontoise PRES (Higher Education research centre).
Coming soon
September 2011 will see the launch of its “Licence Lettre et Arts” (Arts degree) with music, dance & drama major in partnership with Cergy-Pontoise university.
